One of the Most Kick-Butt Bass Solos

Most of you have probably not heard the name Victor Wooten.  He is a bass guitar player who does a lot of solo work, which is great (his older stuff), but he is better known for playing with a band called Béla Fleck and the Flecktones.  I am a pretty big fan of their music.  It is mostly instrumental, but there are a few songs here and there with someone singing.  They have big jazz and bluegrass roots, but they are kind of in a category of their own in terms of the style of music.

I wanted to post this bass solo from one of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones songs called “Let Me Be The One” from their “Left of Cool” album. It is tasteful, unique, and impossible for me to emulate anytime soon.  Victor is one of the best.  I hope you enjoy it:

Please forgive my crudeness, but I have to tell you what I thought the title of this post was at first glance.

When I first read it I thought the title was “One of the Most Kick-Ass Butt Solos”

I then chuckled, realized the right title, then after listening, realized I’m a pathetic musician wannabe.

Thanks for sharing that “Kick-BUTT” solo :-)
