Where is the Holy Spirit?

I know that I have talked a lot about the Holy Spirit lately, but when you spend time in Acts, He is everywhere!  I am in Chapter 13 right now, and I am astonished by the frequent and obvious work of the Holy Spirit:

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” - Acts 13:2

So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleuia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. - Acts 13:4

But Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him… - Acts 13:9

Here we have the Holy Spirit speaking, sending out, and filling.  And this is just scratching the surface of how many times the working of the Holy Spirit is mentioned in Acts.  I just can’t help but wonder; why does this not seem to happen today?  I have heard of it happening from stories told to me here and there - mainly from other countries, but I have never seen it myself.  What are we missing here to not have any of this happening in our church?

Scott - Thank you for your thoughts. I agree with you, and sadly, what you said is very true about my life. I live so comfortably and so easily put my comfort, or fun, or schedule above all other things. How selfish I am to find my own pleasure in such worthless things.

Your post encourages me. It shed a little more light into your heart in this matter. I will pray for you, that you will count all things as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus as your Lord, and that the Spirit will fill you and use you to point others to Christ and to build up the church.
